P52 ~ 4 - Self Portrait

So, still going.  Week 4.  Looking at the photos so far very impressed, again the bar has been set high!

Had fun taking this one!  Spent a while making sure the Tri-pod was OK, put the correct lens on my DSLR before traipsing out to the field.  Got there only to find that I had forgotten the camera!  It was on the coffee table at home - still with the correct lens on!  So I had to fall back on the trusty Iphone for this one!!

This picture of me is taken in the field behind my house.

A few years ago my family and I went through some very tough times.  We were lucky and able to escape.  My wife found a little cottage in the countryside.  Initially I had mis-givings.  I was not sure I wanted to live in a small village in the middle of nowhere.

However the need to move was greater so we did.  The Wiltshire countryside has been amazingly healing for all the family.  It may sound strange but the countryside has helped us heal.

So here I am, stood in the Wiltshire  countryside.  Its January, cold and dull but still amazing.

P52 ~ 3 - I dreamed a Dream

Its week three and I'm still here!  I thought that this week the subject was quite easy, as soon as I saw it I knew what I was going to do for this week.  This made a nice change from last week that I found quite a challenge!

For this week I chose a picture of my son playing football (Soccer for those on the other side of the Atlantic).

My son has Asperger's, which is a type of Autism. One aspect of this is that his physical development was not the same as other children his age. At 8 he could not run up the stairs, but had to take each step one at a time.

However over the last twelve months his physical development has been amazing. He has started playing football. At first it was just practicing with me but as his confidence grew he joined the school team! Now he has also joined the school rugby team and started Karate on Sundays

Sometimes we now shout "DON'T RUN ON THE STAIRS", words of our dreams......

P52 ~ 2 - Made with Love

So, its week 2 and I'm still here.  Found this one quite a challenge.  There are so many things in this world made with love but making an interesting photo...

Week 2 - Made with Love.

When we first moved into the village, we kept finding frogs either wondering down the road or squashed on the road.
This cause my young son a lot of upset. So one weekend we dug a small hole and placed a washing bowl in it and that year my son kept appearing at the back door cuddling frogs, before placing them by the pond.
Last spring (2011) we decided to try something a little bigger. I bought some pond liner and my son and I then dug a large hole, lined it and filled it. As an office worker my back really felt this!
We added a pump, some plants a a few fish. My son found many more frogs that needed saving!
Also I found that I love the sound the small fountain makes.

P52 ~ 1 - Resolutions

So here is the picture for week one of the project 52 challenge.  This picture was initially posted on Flicr, but I have now decided to set up a proper blog - here is the picture for week 1.

Week 1 - Resolutions.

One of my resolutions this year is to cycle more in an attempt to get fitter.  My target for 2012 is 1,500 miles.
I been dabbling for a while with my Digital SLR.  I found the Life with My 3 Boybarians blog on twitter.  I followed some of the tips in the 31 days blog to help understand some of the settings on my camera.

Then the Project 52 Challenge was posted.  Having looked through the initial pictures posted on there I felt some what out of my depth, but decided to try anyway.

Having posted my first week picture on flicr, I got a very positive response and decided that it warranted a bit more effort and  I have decided to set up  proper blog to post my pictures online.
So here is the blog.
I will endeavour to continue this through the next 52 weeks.
Via the 3 Boybarians blog I found another blog with a great post about using the manual settings properly on your Digital SLR.  This has certainly changed the way I use my camera.  This blog opened up a whole new word for me.  Using the manual settings and the tips on this blog I got some great shots over Christmas.
Go to the BLog here So I married a Mennonite for information and tips on using the manual settings of your DSLR.
